Support & Research: What is Dementia?

Dementia is simply an umbrella term used to describe a set of symptoms. Every individual living with dementia will experience it differently, but the most common symptoms include:

            • Memory loss

             • Impaired reasoning

            • Problem solving

            • Difficulty in word finding

The most common of these diseases is Alzheimer’s Disease. Dementia is not a natural part of ageing which mean it can affect different age groups. Younger onset dementias can affect those from 40 year and older. More commonly, dementias affect those from the age of 65+.
